THIS BEAUTIFUL STUDEBAKER HAWK IS PRESENTLY FEATURED IN FULL COLOR ON THE BACK COVER OF THE CURRENT ISSUE (AUGUST 2009) OF “TURNING WHEELS,” THE PRESTIGIOUS MAGAZINE OF THE STUDEBAKERS DRIVERS CLUB................ PLEASE WAIT it may take few moments for the many photos of this vehicle to load, but I promise you it will be worth the wait. This rare find Studebaker is truly museum worthy. The 4 Speed transmissions shifts smooth and it is such a pleasure to hear the sounds of the Paxton Super Charge roar through the dual exhaust system. Description: 1964 Studebaker GT HAWK My name is Michael Racine I am the owner of AutoLand. I am located in Plattsburgh New York with zip code 12901. Plattsburgh is Located about four hours north of NYC and one hour south of Montreal. We are on Beautiful Lake Champlain and just across the lake form Burlington VT. My passion is older 1960’s and early 1970 vehicles and this certainly stems from my dad owning a dealership across form the old Plattsburgh Air Force Base where he sold so many of the cars I so love today. I am a hard working and very honest person. I only sell quality vehicles and do this on a rather small scale, but with high quality. I take my time with each vehicle, I’m not in a rush to get vehicles in and out I am more comfortable selling fewer vehicles, and knowing that each car is truly ready to go to a new owner with no foreseen problems. I personally take the time to drive and get to know each vehicle intimately before it is ever offered for sale. Buying / selling and trading collector cars is a profession that I have a lot passion for and I make sure I to do it right. FOR MORE information about me personally feel free to watch the 90 minute home town cable interview with myself and my recently passed wonderful father. In this interview you’ll learn about who I am, and you learn to never give up on your DREAMS. This video is on the front page of my two web sites: www.AutoLandAutos.com and www.WashLand.com This vehicle I am featuring today is: 1964 Studebaker R2 Grand Turismo GT Hawk with a Jet Thrust engine and with a PAXTON SUPER CHARGER It is a Studebaker 289cu in engine with 289 Horse Power @ 4800 RPMS and a 4 BBL Carter Carburetor. I purchased this Studebaker about a year ago because I knew it was a very special and ultra rare vehicle. It is in fact one of the most Beautiful Automobiles that I have ever seen and have had the pleasure to own. But unfortunately for me I just can not keep all the cars I fall in love with. This is a RARE BIRD…..it is one of only 24 1964 Hawks with the R2 Engine option that was not one of the 104 Packaged cars know as Super Hawks. This car is one of 8-12 NON Package GT HAWKS with a 4 speed Manual transmission, it is in fact much more rare than the packaged GT Super Hawks. THIS IS A REAL ONE and I have plenty of information and documentation that goes with the car. I have the original owner’s manual, original keys original spare tire and large collection of other related information that will go with this vehicle. Previous Owner(s): One was the past President of S D C in Arizona or Southern California. The next owner was a specialty collector, a gentleman who owned over 100 super rare 1960’s vehicles. A little Interesting FACT: I have found a photo of this rare car in a Studebaker publication with its VIN number. So it appears this car has a long history of being very well cared for and when you see this car it is obvious that the previous owners had taken great care of this car, almost like it was their own personal baby. One of the nice things about owning a Studebaker is that most parts can be easily obtained through one of the many Studebaker parts companies And what a resource the wonderful Studebaker Club is. These people know everything about Studebakers. This club along with the members are very kind people who love these cars and can provide you with a tremendous amount of information. Let me tell you more about this GT HAWK. We have gone through this vehicle from front to back and I can reassure you that everything works correctly on this car. All the lights and gages work. The original style bias ply tires are like brand new The brakes are like new and the alignment is perfect. It drives perfect down the road! There are not shakes, rattles or strange noises when you drive this car. It starts up easily, and oh it’s truly such a wonderful vehicle to drive. When you drive this car it just FEELS SPECIAL, it SOUNDS SPECIAL, and the way people look at this car, you just know it is something very spectacular and rare. I have found that most people have never seen a 1964 Studebaker GT Hawk and they are not sure what it is, but they all Love IT!…….. Every place you go crowds surround this car and they just can’t stop admiring how beautiful this Studebaker is. Every show you go to………This car is absolutely a show winner, and I believe it is actually better than that, I believe it is a true museum piece. I’ve been to many of the famous Auto Auctions like Barrett Jackson and MECUM, and I have never seen a 1964 GT HAWK for sale, let alone one with the R2 Engine. These are rare and desirable collector cars and you just don’t see them very often. This GT Hawk is in a very Original condition The interior looks and smells just like it did the day it came out of the factory and even the carpet looks like it could be the original one. The paint looks original but I suspect it has been painted once before but it must have been many years ago. The COLOR IS the Beautiful BORDEAUX RED. The Paint is spectacular, although there is a few small flaws in the paint and one small flaw on of the rear bumper, they are too small to even photograph. If you look at the photos you’ll see how beautiful the paint really is. In my opinion this is absolutely the best possible color of all the colors offered on the Hawks. This Bordeaux Red really helps bring out the gorgeous body lines of this car like no other color can do. The paint is so beautiful you can almost taste it. It’s name Bordeaux Red is a perfect description of the color. It’s classy like a good bottle of aged red wine. This GT Hawk is truly a Special and very classy vehicle. When you look at the photos you’ll see I photographed the car both in the sun light and in the shade. It amazes me how different the color looks in and out of the sunlight but each and every shade of the color spectrum are all so beautiful. Each color seems to set another mood for this car, it’s almost like the car has different personalities depending on the way the light reflects off it. You’ll see these mood changes in the photos. The HAWK was a top end vehicle for Studebaker and the1964 was most definitely the best model year of all the line of Hawks. There were actually more changes made between the 1963 and 1964 model year than most people realized and these changes made the 1964 GT Hawk a really special and desirable car. From my research I have found that Studebaker actually only produced this vehicle for 4 months form September through December 1963, before they closed down for good the production of all Studebakers Hawks. They only built 1772 Hawks in 1964, compare that to 4634 in 1963 and 9335 in 1962. Of this limited production of the 1772 Hawks built in 1964 only 104 were package cars (Super Hawks) with the R2 Engine : AND then in addition: There was these very rare 24 GT Hawks that came through with an R2 Engine but were NON PACKAGE CARS. This is the reason for the real desirability of this car today. THIS CAR IS ONE OF THOSE 24……Right now you are looking one very RARE STUDEBAKER… This is a real one and it is for sale. If you have always dreamed about owning a very original 1964 GT Hawk with an R2 Paxton Super Charger THIS IS THAT CAR. Don’t wait because I only have one to sell and I am going to sell this car. From my research it looks like about 51% of all Hawks had the automatic transmission and 49% had a 4 Speed Manual Transmission. This is how I determined that this vehicle is ONE OF ONLY 8-12 NON PACKAGED 4 Speed Cars EVER BUILT for the 1964 model year. The 1964 Hawk has always been a very desirable vehicle. It attracted a wide variety of car enthusiast, because of it’s elegant styling, good comfort and of course the all out fun of just driving one of these high horse power / performance rides, set the GT Hawks apart from everything else that was built that year. I have read that some of the 1964 Studebaker GT Hawks were shipped to the Bonneville Salt Flats in UTAH in late 1963 or early 1964 and these “R” engine cars set some of the all time land speed records that year. I don’t have all the facts on this but I am sure you can Google this well know fact. One thing I have experienced for sure is that this vehicle has tremendous horse power and it is such a pleasure to drive I can not tell you how many times I find myself just sitting in this car. Not driving, just sitting in the garage and admiring all the craftsmanship that went into building this car. Yes it’s a pleasure to drive, to look at, and to own! ........Let’s talk about INVESTMENATS: I have talked to two gentlemen that have both invested over $50-$60K in the restorations of their Studebaker Hawks. To restore a rare car like this one, it would easily cost most people that much to have it done correctly. If you are anything like most of the car crazy people I have met, including myself, you like good investments too. I can tell you, that you don’t find many vehicles this rare and this desirable very often and when you do they sell for well over $100,000. So, from a financial point of view, THIS GT HAWK is truly a great investment opportunity. What I love about owning quality investment vehicles is the fact that you get to experience so many real pleasures while enjoying and becoming attached to your investments. I have found that in the collector car world your investment can certainly bring you a better return than some of the traditional investments. Hence, you have to admit, it is much more exciting then putting your money away in stocks, bonds and boring saving accounts. I love Cars and if it helps you to purchase this vehicle I am willing to take trade-ins. I’ll consider trades of Boats, Motor cycles and RV’s but I am mostly interested in other classic cars and trucks. Please feel free to call me at 518-572-7200 if you have any questions. MY web site is www.AutoLandAutos.com Thank you for looking at my auction. Respectfully Submitted, Michael Racine 7-7-09
